Biography

Little is found on the life of Favio "Lon" Gaxiola. An obituary in the San Francisco Chronicle notes that he was born in Mexico in 1923 and moved to New York as a young man. He eventually made his way to San Francisco, where he made a name for himself as an interior designer and decorator, employed for many years by famed Gump's department store. In addition to his work as a visual artist, he was an expert in Chinese brush painting. He died on February 20, 2012, in San Francisco.
